Sweet Sugar Snaps!
How best to use them?
Make this recipe for a green panzanella salad featuring sugar snaps and equally crunchy and refreshing cukes instead of the trad tomato version. I know the recipe calls for asparagus, too, but swap them out for spears of the beautiful zucchini at the market this week and you'll be just fine.
Sugar snaps star in this ahi tuna poke bowl with snap peas which looks like a real winner. Of course, you know right where to go for the most beautiful tuna around.
Or, simply dip your sugar snaps in any hummus from AYA Hummus who is now joining us weekly. And we couldn't be happier about it.
Lucky us... Luxx Chocolat found an extra Saturday in her busy schedule so she will be returning this week with her exquisite ice cream bars. If chocolate is your jam, then don't miss Marcelina Orange with her bitter orange peels dipped in deep, dark and slightly-hardened chocolate. Such a treat.
Other specialty vendors joining us this week, Neversink Spirits – a must-stop if you're a fan of botanical gins or if you simply want to up your G&T game. Asian Farmer Dumplings, who is now offering WAY more than just farm to table dumplings. Pick up some of their artisanal ramen noodles and ramen broth and a nice piece of salmon or pork belly at the market to make your own ramen at home.
We were at an upcounty bbq over the holiday weekend and after dinner, the host opened a bottle of Cooper's Daughter Black Walnut Bourbon to enjoy around the fire pit. Well-played. The bourbon was a huge hit and I was pleased as punch to call them one of our vendors.
3x3 Kitchen is also back with their unbelievably addictive Forbidden Rice bread made with black rice flour, and packed with nutrients such as flax and Nigella seeds, too. You'd never know it has ZERO gluten. So perfect with creamery butter from the SOVA Farm tent, a crackling of salt and radishes from Morgiewicz or Stoneberry.
SOVA Farm now has ground lamb for lamb burgers, btw. Or to make your own moussaka with the eggplants tricklng in.
What are you going to have for lunch at the market this week?
Escargot Voyageur is making classic tabbouleh salad. And No Place Like Home will be dishing out some very fine chicken and green bean paella as well as two types of tortilla española (the classic potato & onion and a seasonal zucchini and onion, too).
Don't forget your textiles for recycling!
See you at the market!
