spring!

Today finally feels like spring. It's about time. And to prove it we will have wild ramps at the market this weekend in addition to head-turning tulips.

Yes, Sea Change Flower Farm is back at the market and will be with us until the fall. She says she is ready to create those stunning bouquets on the fly at the market. To avoid the flower frenzy, you can pre-order here.

A Sea Change bouquet is the perfect last minute mother's day gift. As is any piece of colorful kitchen pottery from Chloe Sikirica. Or, an apron or handbag fashioned from vintage tea towels from Ztudio Zsa Zsa, or a handcrafted mezzaluna for easy breezy onion chopping from American Bow Knife. All will be here this Saturday ready to help you nail it.

Now that you've got the gift out of the way, what are you going to cook for the mom in your life this weekend? How about splurging on some scallops at Pura Vida and making shrimp and scallop scampi with ramps. Madura Farms will be bringing some of these wild leeks as will Harlem Valley Homestead.
Or splurge on a nice thick cut of ribeye and open a nice bottle of wine. Adapt this magical steak and potatoes to the number of people around your table. The new crop of arugula from 4E Farms will not disappoint.

Or pick up a steak from R&M Farm and serve it with wilt ramps into your eggs for breakfast in bed on Sunday. You could serve a humdrum Mimosa with that, or you could take it up a notch and make a mama-worthy cocktail using rhubarb or elderberry liqueur from Heimat.

Aya Hummus is celebrating spring and moms with a special trio sampler that will include: Lemon Basil hummus, Harmony hummus (arugula, spinach and coriander) and the ever popular Sonria hummus (roasted poblano, Jalepeño and garlic with cilantro and lime). Serve with spelt crackers from River Valley Community Grains.

Finally, please stop by the market tent for a market t-shirt! We have plenty of sizes and colors. For something extra special, you can purchase a one-of-a-kind market bag hand-stitched by Jo (the lovely salesperson at Bien Cuit Bakery with the beautiful white locks). It takes Jo about 30 hours to make each bag by hand. They are great for large market shops but also double as overnight bags.

Finally, we are so excited to bring music back to the market this week. The always raucous Richard Cortez Band is back tomorrow. Grab a groovy sandwich from Handheld Kitchen and spend some time with us.

See you at the market!
