Fall!
dear shoppers,
Sweaters and squash....they always seem to turn up at the farmer's market about the same time.
This year, Wright's Orchard has a particularly painterly selection of squash: stretch, striped and squat. I'm particularly enamored with their sweet dumpling squash - perfectly sized for halving and stuffing (with quinoa, apples, sausage).
Here's an old favorite recipe for Moroccan Style Stuffed Acorn Squash from thebittenword.com
Feel free to try this recipe with lamb instead of beef, or, no meat at all.
I'm hoping this aromatic, exotic recipe will whet your appetite for our upcoming FIRST ANNUAL HASTINGS FARMERS MARKET HARVEST DINNER which will have a "Moroccan Market" theme this year. Details/ Invites to follow, but please keep the evening of SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2013 clear on your calendars...
Don't forget to bring your knives for sharpening & your gardening questions to the Master Gardener's at the Cornell Cooperative Extension table tomorrow.
The knife sharpener won't be back until the third weekend in October...
And speaking of October...Pennylick will be unveiling her Drunken' Pumpkin ice cream tomorrow!
Clean Ridge will be their with their fall line including their always popular autumnal apple-scented lotions and soaps.
See you at the market!
