Ready, set..

dear shoppers, In honor of this being International GO week, we will be offering free GO lessons at the market tomorrow from 9 to 12 noon.

Andy Zimmerman, a Hastings resident and GO champion has kindly offered to share his expertise .
So, if you've ever wondered about this ancient board game come give it a whirl. All ages welcome. The game takes simple elements: a line and a circle,  black and white, stone and wood, and combines them with simple rules to generate subtleties that have mesmerized players for millennia When played well, some say the game is elevated to an art form  in which black and white dance in delicate balance across the board.

And speaking of delicate dances...

The Cornell Cooperative Master Gardener tent will be moving to the Village Hall "plaza" (next to Buddhapesto and across from Dutch Desserts -  not a bad spot if you ask me) because the Library is having a book sale tomorrow.

And…we have a new pickle vendor starting tomorrow: Doc Pickle is joining our ranks. Their full-sour pickles have been personally vetted by every member of our committee and they've gotten the unanimous thumbs up. So please give them a warm Hastings welcome.

Chatham Brewing Co. is back after having missed a couple of Saturdays. And our fabulous mushroom vendor, Gary,  returns next week, just in time for the mushroom risottos that come with a certain nip in the fall air.

Speaking of the fast-approaching fall - Wright's Orchard has its ginger gold apples. My kids fought over the last one in the fruit bowl this week for their lunch-box.

When you are out and about checking out the Village-Wide Tag Sale tomorrow, or the Hastings Flea on Sunday, see if you can pick up some mason jars for canning. This is the time to put up your tomatoes.
