Something to BLEAT about...

dear shoppers, Guess whose goat cheese is going to be served at the White House soon?

image-45That's right - our very own Painted Goat, from Garrattsville, NY  was spotted by a Food Network scout at Union Square and is bringing Ilyssa Berg's creamy goat cheese logs to the White House kitchens.

We are so proud.

Though we hope that should the Obamas get hooked -  the Bergs will still bring their stellar cheeses to the market each week.

I, for one, cannot live without their feta.

And, in fact, it's only because I still have some left over from last week that I dare post this link from Bon Appetit featuring 19 recipes that are vastly improved by the addition of feta.

Here's another  recipe to tuck away for when the weather cools down a bit more.

Most goat cheese can always benefit from a drizzle of high-class honey and Honey Locust Farmhouse just happens to be at market this Saturday. Her jams are also exquisite on goat cheese - and right out of the jar.

Now that summer's heat is behind us, we are happy to welcome back La Petite Occasion and their dangerously delicious savory and sweet caramels and toffees.

They will be here on an alternating week basis, just like Champagne Kombucha Tea, also back tomorrow as is Larchmont Charcuterie.

Sohha Yogurt promises to be back next week!

The sad news is that Penny Lick Ice Cream won't be at the market this Saturday. The happy news is it's because Saturday is the GRAND OPENING of the new Penny Lick Ice Cream shop in town, right on Warburton. So now you can get your Ethiopian Macchiato fix between market days.

Music this week comes courtesy of our two favorite French chansonniers - Mikel Berrier and Vicente Saavedra of Les Tappan Zigues.

Drop-in Kid's Yoga with Michele Raffterty runs from 9 to 10 - bring your wee ones to the market for some stretching and downdogs on the grass. There was a great crowd and some impressive twisting last week...

Bring extra cash for the Library Book Sale tomorrow!

See you at the market.
