February 16th Market News

ad a sweet Valentin'e Day? Extend the holiday into the weekend with caramels from La Petite Occasion. These bite-size pockets of deliciousness are the perfect size- something small to satisfy the sweet tooth but not so big that you run the risk of overindulging. Try their flavor of the month "butter caramel" or pick up some mocha ones-made with locally roasted espresso beans. It's a nice caffeine boost during the mid-afternoon slump when you find yourself reaching for your third cup of coffee.

Kids on break next week? If you're sticking around there's snow in the forecast, which means you'll need something warm to sip after hours spent hitting the slopes or making snow angels. Pick up freshly pressed apple cider from Concklins and simmer on the stove with cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Garnish with sliced apples-make sure to slice horizontally to get the pretty star in the middle. Bonus: your house will be fragrant for hours!

Tomorrow is Gleaning Day at the Farmers' Market. It happens once a month and it's when we ask our customers to purchase fresh food to give to the Hastings Food Pantry. On this Saturday's Gleaning Day, we would love it if you contributed something fresh. But the pantry is also low on canned food and boxed goods. If you bring something from home instead, we will deliver it downstairs for you!

Here's what's needed:
-Spaghetti sauce
-Tomato products- sauce, diced, crushed
-Peanut butter/jelly
-Rice
-Beans-all varieties
-Canned meats-tuna, chicken and ham

The pantry has plenty of pasta, canned veggies, and soups. Thank you for helping your neighbors! And as always, we accept cash donations for the pantry-we purchase fresh protein from our local farmers with these generous contributions.

See you at the market!
