Come out and celebrate another great market season...
dear shoppers, Hard to believe 26 weeks just flew past. It seems like just yesterday our morning volunteers were unloading crates and crates of perfectly sweet and red strawberries.
The 2013 season was enhanced by the addition of Wright Orchards whose coddled fruit and berries matched the friendliness of their staff. Always a ray of sunshine under the Wright tents.
This year we also added Bistro du Soleil tacos to replace Sunny & Mark's tacos made to order...but it turns out Bistro du Soleil had a lot more up their sleeve: gourmet salads, prepared dinners like coq au vin, not to mention a chicken soup that tastes both good and good for the soul.
Taiim brought their falafel sandwiches to the market plaza this year. We lost Panzarella, but kept their lovely breads. We brought you Champagne Kombucha, Pure Food Sisters' delicious bean dips from Indian to Thai, and pestos, from kale to arugula, as well as exquisite goat cheese from Painted Goat Farm. Raghoo Farms brought us rabbit, duck eggs (great for baking!) and fantastic fresh chicken - beautifully spatchcoked. Horman's Best Pickles joined us with their funky mustard brine, horseradish pickles and limited but tasty selection of olives.
This season the delightful Penny Lick Ice Cream cart rolled in and, for a while at least, Lenny Bee's Smoked Trout set up under a parasol. Something tells me he'll be back some day with his signature white locks and boots - always a bottle of farmer's wine at the ready for tasting.
We hope you come out tomorrow for your last weekly big shop. And what a week for it! Between Thanksgiving and Hanukkah, your kitchen should be humming next week!
We should have everything you need for Thanksgiving...Roaming Angus still has some turkeys left, but you better get there early to reserve one. Pre-ordered turkeys may be picked up between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. After that, turkey sales will be available on a first come, first served basis. Raghoo Farms also has turkeys for sale which you can order Saturday and pick up Wednesday at the Irvington Thanksgiving Market, 1 to 5 p.m. at the Main St. School Auditorium.
If you find you were not able to get everything you needed on Saturday, we will have most of the same vendors - and then some!
Flourish will be at the market tomorrow and if you're looking for some tasty gluten-free desserts to put on your holiday table, you can order them by Sunday - also available for pickup on Wednesday in Irvington. Remember, a better quality bread makes for a superior stuffing. And, my French mother always adds a splash of Cognac to any stuffing she makes, "just because."

There is no market on the 30th. We will be outside on Dec. 7th and 21st and at the James Harmon Community Center from Jan through March on the first and third Saturday of each month. Pick up a market calendar at the market tent to slap on your fridge!
