Dinner on a stick!

dear shoppers, I'm on a kebab kick this summer. They're easy and fun to prepare, they tend to be healthy and are portion-control friendly.

Bamboo skewers are also a great canvas for your culinary creativity: from swordfish to pork to tofu and even fruit, - most anything can be skewered and grilled. And things just taste and look better on a stick. Shrimp and plums? Why not? Just don't forget to soak your skewers in water before you thread them...lest you want to see your handiwork - and dinner - go up in flames!

You can find all the ingredients for this Greek chicken kebab with mint and feta recipe at the market this Saturday (feta at Painted Goat, mint at Honey Locust, chicken at Roaming Angus or Cowberry Crossing).

This swordfish kebab with cucumber salad recipe requires all sorts of yummy spices you can buy from Spice Revolution tomorrow. And Taliaferro has some killer cucumbers these days...

Or, try this dessert kebab recipe of skewered plums.

Of course, there's nothing stopping you from threading plums through your chicken or swordfish kebabs...

Our music this week is the always-lively duo (both musically and maritally): The Levins.

Yoga for kids is back at 9:15 tomorrow and the Scribble Art Workshop folks will be there from 11 to 1 p.m. in the craft area.

The Pizza Truck will be back next week - August 3rd.

See you at the market!
