Our last weekly market of the season is a doozie!

As it should be...with the biggest "cooking" day of the year right around the corner. We hope you will get your shopping lists ready and come shop "local" tomorrow for your holiday table.

We will have all the root vegetables, baby greens, potatoes, yams, onions, Brussels sprouts and squash you could ever want.

Southtown Farms and Roaming Angus should have plenty of sausage for stuffing. Make sure to pick up some fresh herbs.  Here are some tips tips for storing fresh herbs from Real Simple Magazine.

Pick up lots of fresh apples or pears, pumpkins for pies, cakes and quick breads and nuts for salads and crisps. Don't forget to grab some goat cheese to crumble atop salads or caramelized beets.

Pick up some extra onions from Black Dirt country for caramelizing and mixing in with your mashed potatoes.

Too much pressure to make a pie from scratch? No worries: Pie Lady & Son will tell you exactly how to keep their homespun pies tasting "just baked" for the big Day.

Luxx Chocolat - their confections are as artistic as they are delicious - will be visiting tomorrow for the first time with lots of hostess gift ideas if you are "guesting" this year.

Teagevity will also have lovely organic teas and tea paraphernalia that would make great hostess gifts.

Also: Tiny Hearts will have some stunning gorgeous wreaths fashioned from dried local flowers and twigs as well as floral centerpieces, for that perfect finishing touch to your table.

And, to make sure you don't come down with a seasonal cold before Thanksgiving - or to ward off plane germs if you're traveling - stop by the Wild Seed Apothecary tent where Erin will have all sorts of herbal tinctures and treatments. Ask her about her "CSH" (Community Supported Herbalism) Shares, too.

If you are hosting for the first time - you might want to check out this link from Food52. It's got tips on every aspect of the traditional Thanksgiving meal from cocktails, sides, stuffing, and of course, the bird. You'll even find tips on how to dress your table after you've dressed the turkey.

Please make sure to bid farewell to Andrew King from Roaming Angus who will not be returning after tomorrow's market. We had a giant picture cake at the market made for him last week. We decorated it with Holsteins instead of Angus, and, the decorator at Stew Leonard's wrote "Happy Trials" instead of "Happy Trails" but Andrew took it all in stride. Please make sure to tell him all he has meant to our market.

We at the Hastings Farmer's Market want to wish you all a healthy, peaceful and delicious holiday.

Remember: there is no market NEXT Saturday. Our first "winter" market is Dec. 6th at the Library Lot. Swing by the market tent to pick up a winter schedule tomorrow. And why not a t-shirt -to get a jump-start on your gift list?

Also: if you are unable to get to the market tomorrow for whatever reason, worry not - you can still prepare a "local" Thanksgiving meal: the Irvington Farmer's Market will hold it's Fourth Annual Thanksgiving Market at the Main St. School auditorium from 1 to 5 p.m. next Wednesday. And this year's vendor mix is our BEST yet.

See you at the market!
