The Market will be open tomorrow...late start, 9 a.m. instead of 8:30 a.m.

I am going to keep this one short and sweet. We debated long and hard about whether we should hold the farmers market tomorrow. With much of Hastings without power, who is going to buy food? But the truth is if you lost power, like me, on Monday, chances are you've eaten through - or tossed - the contents of your fridge.
Plus, what we've noticed is that those of you are lucky enough  to have power are being so kind as to invite the "powerless" over for heart-warming meals...many made with market ingredients. YOU need to restock! PLUS - most of our vendors are itching to come. Unlike last year's big storm, Irene, Sandy did not flood our farmers' fields and they are good to harvest today.  At the Morgiewicz farm they harvested on Monday and put everything in cooling houses. By tomorrow it might be nice to get out of our cold, darkened homes and hang out in the Library Lot and swap Sandy stories. Just so you know, not all vendors are able to come. Coach Farms lost power and they are not doing any markets this week. I haven't heard from Captain Rick of Pura Vida - but unlikely anyone was doing any fishing this week. So please,  come and shop with a mind as open as your hearts. We will be opening at 9 a.m. instead of 8:30 because many of our volunteers are also without power and it will be hard to start setup at 7 a.m. Looking forward to seeing you all at the market!
