April 20th Market News

If you're cooking for tomorrow's second seder and still need a recipe for the main dish, try this one for chraime-a Sephardic fish dish-with any skinless fillets from Pura Vida Fisheries. Still need a side or a potluck item? You can't wrong with this spinach and leeks recipe from Jaime Geller. Happy Passover to all of our friends who are celebrating!

For our friends who are celebrating Easter on Sunday, may we suggest picking up a ham from Matt at Southtown Farms. He has a variety of sizes that are all nitrate-free and hardwood smoked.

If you're not celebrating anything this weekend or if you just have some free time to work on your garden (Sunday is probably a better bet than Saturday) we suggest you run-don't walk-to the market to get artichoke seedlings from Homegrown Nurseries. There will also be other early spring starters, which are all propagated by Hastings resident Nick Storrs at the Lyndhurst greenhouses.

Lastly, tomorrow is "gleaning day" at the Market, when customers purchase fresh produce which we donate to the Food Pantry. If you prefer to give cash we will gladly accept it — this allows us to buy protein to donate.

See you at the market!
