Always something new and interesting at the Hastings Farmer's Market!

dear shoppers, We've got some new vendors visiting this week so please make us a part of your holiday weekend....

Please welcome: Brooklyn Bean: they sell a large variety of locally-grown dried heirloom beans by the pound. The beans are all organic, rare and hand-harvested. They sell for $8 a pound (Yay! no more wrestling with those plastic troughs at Whole Foods).  They also make small-batch bean burgers, vegetarian chili and soups made with their dried beans and local greens.

They sell their black bean burgers frozen in packs of two for $6. All of their products are made in NY, are vegan and locally-sourced.

Next, French Press Cafe will be here to ply us with their robust coffee (incl. decaf!) and hot cocoa.

They will be bringing biscotti (fennel and orangel cranberry and apricot) and some of their most popular soups: butternut squash with cashew puree and sweet potato chipotle. They will be alternating with Station Cafe in the winter months. If you have yet to visit their cafe (where Thomas' used to be)  you can see what they are all about.

Finally, D & J Produce from Long Island is bringing us some Asian greenhouse greens as well as handcrafted kimchi and dumplings, all made with their organic seasonal greens -- and fried tofu, too.

I've been getting lots of questions about cooking bok choy lately. Here's a simple recipe. Pick up your ginger from Madura Farms.

See you at the market.
